South Poll Cross Cattle
Recently we have acquired two unregistered 50% south poll cattle, crossed with red angus. These two cows are due to calve this coming spring in 2025! They were bred to a purebred south poll bull so their calves will be 3/4 south poll. The decision to make cattle a more permanent animal on the farm came after raising two dexter steers and seeing the positive impact they had on the grass. They were raised solely on grass using our rotational grazing practices. We absolutely loved the taste of the beef but were wanting cattle more of the "standard" size. South Poll Cattle seem to fit our farm in what we were wanting, smaller framed cattle that does well on grass. Some of their other great attributes are they are they are known for easy birthing, heat tolerance and gentle disposition. Not only are they known for being easy keepers, but the beef has excellent flavor!
